i invite you to explore with me a system of improvisation and composition that i have been developing for several years. in addition to extensive tools for improvisation and movement generation, this methodology is also aimed at expanding one’s own potential as a dancer and artist. the longer i explore the body, mind and spirit, the more i discover how diverse our mechanisms of cognition and existence are, and how endless we are in our limitations. the organism is such a mosaic of states, qualities and structures that it offers us an almost infinite number of variations for constructing, experiencing and expressing movement. it is this most infinite set of options that arouses my interest. i am eager to find how to create room within the constraints and to address virtuosity and unpredictability, complexity and simplicity simultaneously — while striving to remove the excess and unnecessary, and to find ease in dancing that is, at the same time, neither primitive nor boring. i am looking for a dance that, while having conceptual and intelligent foundations, nevertheless transmits and expresses them through the body. over the course of these six days, we will experiment with often diametrically opposed concepts, constructs, objectives and tasks — expanding our physical, intellectual and felt experience, knowledge and skills.
the description reflects an artist’s idea which was developed at the time it was submitted to b12. it may have changed by the time the workshop or the performance project is starting. please stay flexible. thank you!
