frames of practice
a study of movement between the athletic and the artistic. within this workshop i propose we follow two lines of enquiry. the first focuses on the refinement of movement through athletic and artistic practices: how we move, resolve and adapt in response to various physical situations. we visit acrobatics, improvisation, tactical work, locomotion, fighting and dialogue. through these contexts, we evolve our strength, dexterity, mobility and elasticity — as well as our fluency in reflective processes. we explore the cultivation of focus and attention: calming the inner world and developing awareness and strategies to counter the modern pull of constant distraction. in this way, we search for a return to a clearer, quieter perspective. the second enquiry explores the entrance into creation and performance. creation may refer to the development of new acrobatic forms, improvisational textures, movement sequences and partnering elements. performance refers to the act of human connection — how we respond to being observed and to being in dialogue with others. how is our practice informed by the proximity and energy offered by a shared environment? this is not limited to performative artists; rather, it is an investigation into the weaving of textures, forms and athletic manoeuvres into a personalised orchestration. through the merging of athletic and performative practices, a liminal quality appears — one that binds my work and movement language together.
the description reflects an artist’s idea which was developed at the time it was submitted to b12. it may have changed by the time the workshop or the performance project is starting. please stay flexible. thank you!

yeknom
a study of movement between the athletic and the artistic. the work of winston reynolds operates at the intersection of performance, research and education — a continuum where acrobatics, dance and physical theatre meet inquiry and reflection. his creations and workshops explore how adaptability, awareness and attention can be cultivated through movement. as a choreographer and educator, reynolds investigates the dialogue between strength and sensitivity, strategy and spontaneity, control and surrender. his practice is grounded in physical research — through acrobatics, improvisation and theatre — and extends toward composition, performance and pedagogy. he develops contexts for learning and creation that merge artistic and athletic development. the work invites participants to move, question and construct — to engage both the disciplined and the poetic body. his projects propose a living framework: a way of thinking through the body, where focus becomes a practice and physical intelligence becomes a form of art.
